Full 03:23
Full - Lyrics by Dave Mutton Seen so many wasted days I’ve seen them wash away like tears I’ve seen winter days at dawn I’ve seen summer coming on And I’ve seen men in uniform Their faces and medals worn Once fighting for an age Now just the pictures on a page The world is full of things with the power to kill I’ve seen so many wasted lives I’ve seen them wash away like rain I felt winter winds so strong And hot summer nights so long And I’ve seen simple men in rags Who don’t deserve the life they’ve had Once legends of their time Now just memories on my mind The world is full of things with the power to kill

Last Man Standing - Lyrics by Dave Mutton Goes to the heart of rock’n’roll Fire in the belly has taken control Every town seems barren the road is long But the fire burns hot the drive is strong And the world falls apart...the last man standing Some comrades lost to another time That seemed more simple easy to define More about the art, not milk and honey Are they making music or just making money So the whole world is coming to the last man standing Technology moves into a new dimension Affecting forward focus spans of attention Rappers and Mc’s with their bleeps and their beeps Song should be sung it’s not something you speak The whole world has come to me, the last man standing The Last man standing will be playing rock’n’roll There’ll be no grandstanding, just pure rock’n’roll The last man standing

Lost 03:42
Lost (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) All my clothes are covered in crap Flat on the floor flat on my back Once again, I don’t know where I am I go out drinking in strange bars Go for a ride in strangers cars Once again, I don’t know where I am And I wondering and thinking of you And how I been lost since you left me Well I been looking for a love that will last But I keep on getting lost in the bottom of a glass I go out for a night on the town You know I hate in when the morning comes round Once again, I don’t know where I am Aching heart and a sore head Strange girl in a strange bed Once again, I don’t know where I am Once again, I don’t know where I am And I wondering if yer thinking of me And how I been lost since you decided to leave Well I been looking for a love that will last But I keep on getting lost in the bottom of a glass There’s blood all over my clothes All over my knuckles, all over my nose Once again, I don’t know where I am The smell of vomit all through my hair Thought I was sleeping in it on your back stairs Once again, I don’t know where I am Once again, I don’t know where I am

Beyond the Stars (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) In the beginning, it seemed like the end Can’t leave my enemies, can’t find no friends But there’s a light, beyond the stars And we might make it that far And in the darkness it’s cold and black Can’t move forward can’t go back But there’s a light, beyond the stars And we might make it that far And in the shadows it all stays hidden All you desire, all that is forbidden But there’s a light, beyond the stars And we might make it that far And in the remains of all the ruins Something sinister is still brewing But there’s a light, beyond the stars And we might make it that far And in the end there’ll be no more suffering Cos that is when there will be nothing But a light, beyond the stars And we might make it that far There’s a light beyond the stars
5.
Girl O’ My Dreams (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) Never been one theorise About the feeling I get when I look in your eyes I never really been an emotional man I’m the last to claim that I understand But most things ain’t what they seem And you could be the girl of my dreams Most things ain’t what they seem you could be the girl of my dreams could be the girl of my dreams I never been one to analyse The feeling I get when I’m by your side I never really been an expert on love What steels the breath and boils the blood But most things ain’t what they seem And you could be the girl of my dreams Most things ain’t what they seem you could be the girl of my dreams could be the girl of my dreams I’m not one to question the heart But I know how it aches when we’re apart And I never been on to think that straight And I move too slow and way too late

Smells Like Death (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) Smells like death, mmm tastes like chicken Smells like death, mmm tastes a lot like chicken Working up an appetite and moving in for the kill Sometimes it’s murder trying to get your fill Smells like death, mmm tastes like chicken Smells like death, mmm tastes a lot like chicken A hunger I can’t satisfy no matter how I try Before we’re famished how many must die Smells like death, mmm tastes like chicken Smells like death, mmm tastes a lot like chicken That’s fingerlicken. I’ve had a bellyful of most people today And you can get fed up in so many ways Smells like death, mmm tastes like chicken Smells like death, mmm tastes a lot like chicken

Blame Rock’n’Roll (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) It seems a lot colder in this city Than it did this time last year The road seemed a lot longer But always seems to lead me right back here And you look different with your hair up in a bow But there’s a thousand reasons why I gotta go....but baby Don’t blame the drugs You can’t blame the devil for trying to steal my soul You blame me, I blame that rock’n’roll Seems a lot more crowded in here Than it did last night They all look like strangers Some even look a little dangerous Under this light You’re looking younger With your skirt up high But there’s a thousand reasons Why I gotta to say goodbye...but baby Don’t blame the drugs You can’t blame the devil for trying to steal my soul You blame me, I blame that rock’n’roll The night ends so much earlier Than most people wanted it to Farewells take a little longer They always seemed to lead back to you You look like an angel Even stinking of gin Oh there’s a thousand reasons I don’t know where to begin...but baby... Don’t blame the drugs You can’t blame the devil for trying to steal my soul You blame me, I blame that rock’n’roll You blame me, I blame that rock’n’roll You still blame me

Farther 02:59
Farther (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) I hate my father and I don’t care if it’s a sin Cos now I’m him And I don’t care he understands I was hoping to be a better man Little child I hope you can see Don’t grow into me Child of mine I hope that you can see Don’t grow into me I hope you’re smart I hope you understand You can grow up to be a better man I hate my father and I don’t care if it’s a sin Cos now I’m him I hate my father and I don’t care if it’s a sin Cos now I’m him And I don’t give a fuck if he understands I was hoping to be a better man
9.
The Darkness 03:55
The Darkness (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) I tried ignoring your fall from grace Found it appalling that look upon your face You move toward the light That breaks on through The darkness falls upon you Darkness falls upon you You tried explaining your latest disgrace And all the pain you brought to this place You move toward the light That breaks on through The darkness falls upon you Darkness falls upon you I tried defending all that you’d become The pain only ending when all is numb You move toward the light That breaks on through The darkness falls upon you Darkness falls upon you

Demons 03:01
Demons (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) I can’t beat these demons Can’t win this war And the way I’m feeling Don’t wanna feel no more Eyes are blind with the sickness A thousand sins they’ve witnessed My ears they scream in the silence A loud and harsh and violent And the pain remains the same I can’t beat these demons Can’t win this war And the way I’m feeling Don’t wanna feel no more My heart is scarred with the torment Memories fester and ferment My soul is stained with the regret Shit I’d rather forget I can’t beat these demons Can’t win this war And the way I’m feeling Don’t wanna feel no more A small child is taken Forever his spirit is breaking When the man grows old Too late to save his soul And the pain remains the same I can’t beat these demons Can’t win this war And the way I’m feeling Don’t wanna feel no more

The Devil in Me (Lyrics by Dave Mutton) You’re all passion and fire I couldn’t get much higher All who tell you sinners go to hell Well they’re fucking liars Yeah a heavens angel With a touch of danger Yeah that thing that they call sin It’s no fucking stranger You bring out the devil in me You bring out the devil in me You’re heart and soul Always hot and never cold They say sometimes it’s about the mind Well they’re just fucking old Pure flesh and blood Can’t get enough of your love And under your spell Means I’m damned to hell Well fuck the heavens above You bring out the devil in me A body so divine It always blows my mind I love this bitch and all her shit yeah It’s a fucking crime Your love can hook me up We love to drink we love to fuck And nothing you can say Is gonna change our ways Bad fucking luck You bring out the devil in me

Recorded in a spur of the moment 'lets see what happens', we got nothing else to do, recording session in Tin Star's garage, The Power to Kill is the mythical, long lost album by Beyond the Stars... BTS was born in the Wollongong underground and shot across the skies for a year or so back in 2009...meanwhile their album sat there awaiting release upon that portentous moment when the stars align...5 years later we were still waiting for alignment so we gave up on Astronomy and decided the internet was easier.

Beyond the Stars is 'punk folk blues' with a lyrical edge, dangerous slide guitar and black sense of humour/humility that sets it apart from the photogenic roots and blues scenesters with their djembre's, festivals, fx racks and shallow derivative songs. Mong star writes songs from the heart and experience and Tin Star feels his pain. They are brothers in art and date regularly with the same muse, they always drink beer and cynically dismiss everyone else and themselves. They exist in the underground, beyond the stars.
